Halishte Rug - Handmade in Bulgaria, Natural Brown Wool - R10

Halishte Rug, a heritage tradition, woven in Bulgaria. Each piece takes a month to create, every tuft is hand knotted. The color of the wool reflects the age of the sheep. Young Karakachan sheep are brown and their wool lightens to off white as the grow older. In older rugs they are hung outside to air out and bleach in the sun which lightens the color even more to an almost white wool. We sell both old and newly woven rugs. Collected in villages from the Rodope Mountains.
